Eyes are the most beautiful and expressive parts of a human being. Baby’s eyes are filled with innocence. I always thought that babies can see like us from day one. Since they are very small, they do not have enough capability to recognize us. But this is actually not the case. Only after nearly 8 months a baby can see like us. 1. A newborn baby can see things only at a distance of 8-12 inches. That is about the distance at which it can see a mother’s face during feed. The vision is very fuzzy. Also they can only view black, white and gray. 2. In the first month a baby cannot see things in tandem. They prefer highly contrasted patterns to plain surfaces. 3. In the third month babies can see moving objects and start distinguishing between colors . They first see red color and by the end of third month, they see the whole spectrum. They also start recognizing things. 4. Between four and six months of age, baby’s vision can have depth perception. Hand-eye coordination also develops during this period. Right time to play peek-a-boo! 5. By the sixth month, a baby can see almost like an adult. 6. When a good number of things or toys with different colors are given to the baby, it rises, curiosity, memory and nervous system development. I found an interesting site, where you can upload your photo and see how your baby sees you at different stages. Here's the link http://www.tinyeyes.com/
